Position Summary The Piping Designer IV will serve as a go-to piping designer on projects utilizing AutoCAD Plant 3D and is expected to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision. This role requires a self-motivated individual who demonstrates initiative, takes ownership of project deliverables, and provides leadership to others.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a piping designer required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D required (demonstration may be requested).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying scope and prioritize deliverables effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work cross-discipline and collaborate with fabrication leads on constructability.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, ethical conduct, and alignment with company core values.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between St. Louis, MO, and Red Bud, IL, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Navisworks Freedom, Simulate, and Manage is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D piping models from P&IDs, specifications, and equipment information.
  • Mentor and coach junior designers to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Provide technical support and collaborate with engineering and project management on technical decisions.
  • Lead 3D model design reviews and coordinate design changes.
  • Create and revise P&IDs, PFDs, detailed mechanical and piping orthographics, and isometrics.
  • Create accurate, constructible designs to minimize fabrication errors.
  • Review and interpret line, valve, and tie-in lists.
  • Apply knowledge of pipe stress principles and support details, locations, and spans.
  • Review and redline equipment and component vendor drawings as required.
  • Modify Plant 3D pipe specifications as needed.
  • Assemble fabrication and installation drawing packages.
  • Update drawings based on sketches or engineer/designer requests.
  • Check drawings for accuracy, proper dimensions, and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Follow and enforce company CAD standards and piping specifications.
  • Must comply with Roeslein & Associates' core values and maintain strong working relationships.
