About The Position

The Pipeline Integrity Lead is responsible for protecting BKV’s pipeline assets by overseeing damage prevention activities, coordinating with third-party contractors, and ensuring compliance with One Call (811) requirements and excavation safety regulations. This role focuses on minimizing risk to pipeline infrastructure through proactive monitoring, field presence, and education. The Pipeline Integrity Lead provides technical leadership and day-to-day guidance to technicians and contractors while serving as a key resource for excavation oversight, right-of-way protection, and incident prevention. This individual operates with minimal supervision and plays a critical role in maintaining pipeline integrity, public safety, and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills are essential to uphold BKV standards, values, and culture.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of damage prevention practices, One Call/811 processes, and excavation safety requirements.
  • Understanding of pipeline systems, right-of-way management, and regulatory standards (PHMSA preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, particularly in field-based situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with contractors, landowners, and internal teams.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and field-based digital systems (ticket management, GIS, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Adaptability and a proactive, prevention-focused mindset.
  • High school diploma or GED required; equivalent work experience considered.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in pipeline operations, locating, or damage prevention.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., NACE, API, or damage prevention training) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate damage prevention activities to protect pipelines from third-party excavation and construction work.
  • Monitor and respond to One Call (811) tickets, ensuring timely and accurate field verification and line locating coordination.
  • Serve as the primary field contact for contractors and excavators working near pipeline assets.
  • Perform site visits to verify proper excavation practices, safe digging methods, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to pipeline integrity, including encroachments, unauthorized activities, and right-of-way disturbances.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to technicians on damage prevention procedures, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Educate third-party contractors and stakeholders on pipeline safety, right-of-way awareness, and excavation best practices.
  • Investigate and document near-misses, damages, and incidents involving pipeline facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of tickets, inspections, field activities, and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and regulatory teams to address risks and improve damage prevention strategies.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reporting related to PHMSA and state regulations.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to all safety and environmental standards.
  • Stay current with industry regulations, One Call requirements, and damage prevention best practices.
