About The Position

The Pipeline Inspection Field Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing field operations related to in-line inspection (ILI), integrity assessment support, and pipeline inspection services. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of field projects while overseeing personnel, equipment readiness, client coordination, and operational performance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in pipeline inspection technologies, demonstrated leadership in field operations, and a commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Oil & Gas Technology, or related technical field preferred; significant oil field and pipeline inspection field experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in pipeline inspection, in-line inspection (ILI), pigging operations, or related oil & gas field services
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or field leadership role managing multi-crew operations
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting or leading ILI tool runs (MFL, UT, EMAT, geometry, caliper, or specialty tools)
  • Strong working knowledge of pipeline operations including launcher/receiver systems, trap operations, flow/pressure management, and tracking procedures
  • Familiarity with pipeline integrity management practices and anomaly investigation support
  • Working knowledge of PHMSA, DOT, and applicable federal/state pipeline regulations preferred
  • Experience operating in high-pressure, remote, and industrial field environments
  • Proven ability to manage field logistics, mobilization planning, and multi-location project execution
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making capability during live pipeline operations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Work may be performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind and rain.
  • Physical tasks may include lifting heavy objects and standing for long periods.
  • The position may require travel to various locations.
  • Frequent field presence required
  • Ability to work in industrial environments and comply with safety requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working directly with pipeline operators and integrity engineering teams
  • Previous responsibility for field-level budget oversight and cost control
  • Technical certifications related to pipeline inspection, NDT, or oil & gas operations (preferred but not required)
  • OSHA 30, H2S, First Aid/CPR, or similar safety certifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage field execution of in-line inspection (ILI) tool runs including MFL, UT, EMAT, geometry, caliper, and specialty tools
  • Oversee pigging operations, including launcher/receiver activities, trap operations, and coordination with pipeline operators
  • Direct field crews during mobilization, staging, tool preparation, launch, tracking, and recovery operations
  • Ensure operational readiness for projects involving varying product types, pressures, flow rates, and pipeline conditions
  • Develop contingency plans for stalled tools, abnormal operating conditions, and emergency response situations
  • Serve as primary field-level liaison with pipeline operators, control rooms, and integrity teams
  • Participate in pre-job planning meetings, technical reviews, and scope alignment discussions
  • Ensure operational parameters (flow, pressure, temperature, product compatibility) are confirmed prior to tool runs
  • Provide real-time operational updates and post-run summaries to clients
  • Enforce strict adherence to company HSE policies and industry safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with PHMSA, DOT, and applicable federal and state pipeline regulations
  • Lead Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-job safety meetings, and field risk assessments
  • Investigate and document safety incidents, near misses, and operational deviations
  • Promote a strong safety culture in high-pressure, remote, and industrial environments
  • Supervise Field Supervisors, Tool Technicians, Tracking Personnel, and support staff
  • Provide hands-on leadership during critical phases of inspection runs
  • Conduct performance evaluations, competency assessments, and technical coaching
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and field readiness training
  • Ensure ILI tools, tracking systems, launch equipment, and support assets are calibrated, maintained, and deployment-ready
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve reliability
  • Monitor tool performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Manage equipment logistics, inventory, and transportation planning
  • Oversee labor utilization, travel planning, and job costing to maintain profitability
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for field services operations
  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance service quality
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and new technology implementation
