About The Position

The Pipeline Foreman is responsible for supervising field crews in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of midstream oil & gas pipelines. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans, specifications, and regulations. The Foreman reports directly to the Superintendent and serves as the on-the ­ground leader for daily operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years oil and gas pipeline experience (midstream preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, isometrics, and alignment sheets.
  • Hands-on knowledge of pipeline construction processes and equipment.
  • A proven track record of safe, efficient field supervision.
  • Ability to maintain documentation and communicate clearly with management and inspectors.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs pipeline crews, including operators, laborers, welders, fusers, and subcontractors.
  • Assigns tasks daily based on the Superintendent's work plan and project priorities.
  • Monitors crew performance, maintains productivity, and ensures quality standards are met.
  • Conducts daily JSA meetings, toolbox talks, and ensure all crew members understand task-specific hazards.
  • Enforces company and OSHA safety procedures, including trench safety, rigging, lifting, confined space, and PPE use.
  • Stops any unsafe work immediately and correct hazards before resuming operations.
  • Oversees excavation, stringing, bending, welding, coating, lowering-in, backfilling, and cleanup operations.
  • Verifies ditch prep, bedding, depth-of-cover, and pipe handling meet client specifications.
  • Coordinates with welders, inspectors, and operators to maintain workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Assists with tie-ins, hydrotest preparation, pig launcher/receiver installation, and other facility-related tasks.
  • Confirms all work is performed to drawings, alignment sheets, and project specifications.
  • Monitors weld map progress, coating repairs, and joint integrity.
  • Works closely with inspectors (CWI, NACE, API, Utility, Coating) to resolve issues quickly.
  • Ensures proper installation of fittings, valves, sleeves, supports, and anchors.
  • Acts as the field communication link between crew members, inspectors, and the Superintendent.
  • Provides accurate updates on progress, production rates, and any delays or issues.
  • Ensures crews understand daily goals, safety expectations, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinates and direct the movement and usage of excavators, dozers, side-booms, tampers, vacuum lifts, and trucks.
  • Ensures equipment is operated safely and within its limits.
  • Tracks material needs (pipe, fittings, skids, mats, fuel, supplies) and notify the Superintendent ahead of shortages.
  • Completes daily timesheets, equipment logs, material usage reports, and production quantities.
  • Documents issues such as delays, weather impacts, equipment breakdowns, and changes in scope.
  • Maintains accurate foreman-level paperwork required by the client.
  • Troubleshoots field challenges in real time (terrain issues, water in ditch, access problems, etc.).
  • Adjusts crew assignments and equipment usage to maintain consistent workflow.
  • Keeps production moving while maintaining safety and quality standards.
