The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Assists in coordinating and implementing the agency’s inflow and infiltration program. Performs the cleaning and TV inspection of sewer lines. Schedules and implements cleaning projects at treatment plants and lift stations. Pressure-cleans and mechanically cleans manholes and sewer lines; removes roots and debris as necessary; clears stoppages from lines and manholes; chemically treats root-infested lines as necessary. Performs rehabilitation of manholes and lines. Installs and maintains flow monitoring and rain gauge equipment. Performs above- and below-ground physical inspections and smoke and dye tests on sewer lines. Performs night-time flow isolation studies. Conducts GPS data collection activities, including surveys of sewer lines, plants, lift stations and facilities; compiles data and enters information into computer; drafts maps of areas being studied. Provides training and leadership of crew members as assigned. Receives, reviews and assigns work orders to crew members. Determines the necessary equipment, materials and personnel to accomplish assigned tasks. Orders and/or requests supplies, parts, materials, tools and equipment necessary for daily activities; assists in estimating project costs. Ensures safe transport of equipment and supplies to and from work sites. Operates heavy and specialized equipment as necessary, including but not limited to television inspection van, jet truck, cleaner / vacuum combination truck, trailers, bucket truck, tractors, etc.; operates gas detectors and various hand and power tools. Provides traffic control at work sites to ensure citizen / crew safety. Inspects work in progress and at completion for compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed. Inspects equipment for proper and safe working condition; maintains assigned vehicles, tools and equipment. Receives and responds to inquiries, complaints and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility. Performs general clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing records and reports, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, etc. Works on call 24 hours per day as scheduled for emergency response. Attends meetings, training, seminars, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
