Austin Industrial is currently seeking a Pipefitter to join our staff located at McIntosh, AL . They must be able to install, inspect, document, maintain and repair a variety of utility pipelines and utility fixtures throughout the plant, including steam, water, disposal, gas, air, hydraulic and process material.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear specialized PPE full-face respiratory protection and chemical PPE clothing
  • Comply with OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience –5 years maintenance work experience as a pipefitter in industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills, math and problem-solving; mechanical, numerical and verbal aptitude to learn our jobs quickly.
  • Meet physical demands as listed above
  • Must be able to work call-ins and overtime when support is needed.
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Install, examine, service, and repair utility piping systems including steam, water, gas, air, and hydraulic lines along with associated valves, fittings, and traps.
  • Serve as the department’s technical expert, supporting troubleshooting efforts and implementing equipment changes when necessary.
  • Perform welding using electric and acetylene equipment, as well as soldering, brazing, and applying pipe insulation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and piping diagrams to plan, design, and execute system installations.
  • Carry out pressure testing and maintain air handling and distribution systems.
  • Complete scheduled inspections of safety and facility equipment such as fire extinguishers, dust collection systems, and air handling units.
  • Safely operate a wide range of hand and power tools, welding equipment, pipe threaders, lifting and rigging devices, forklifts, boom trucks, and cranes.
  • Utilize software and computer systems to document maintenance activities and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained, organized, and clean.
  • Other duties as assigned.
