About The Position

The University of Colorado Denver is seeking a qualified Plumber to join its Facilities Management team. This position operates under the general supervision of the Trades Shop Supervisor and is responsible for performing skilled plumbing work across campus facilities. The role includes the maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of plumbing systems such as water lines, sewer systems, water heaters, softeners, and restroom fixtures. Requirements

  • 3 years of progressive experience in the plumbing industry with service and installs.
  • Must possess and maintain a current journey-level plumber license.
  • Must be a resident of the State of Colorado at the time of application.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid State of Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle checks and drug test.
  • Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, incident, or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per UCD Facilities Operations Department Policies.
  • Must be willing and able to stand and walk on a constant basis, with or without accommodation.
  • Must be willing and able to climb, crawl, kneel, bend and reach above shoulders on a frequent basis, with or without accommodation.

  • Must be willing and able to walk on uneven surfaces and climb on scaffolds/ladders.
  • Must be willing and able to work straight or rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position has been designated as essential personnel and will be required to respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Position may also be required to stay late, come in early, or cover shifts as needed.
  • As an essential employee, you will be required to provide reliable off-hours phone contact information for emergency call-in purposes.

  • Experience in pipe welding
  • Experience fixing and maintaining equipment and machinery.

  • Mechanical ability: able to learn how to diagnose and troubleshoot the problems related to plumbing failures and be able to fix it.
  • Ability to utilize a computerized maintenance management system to document daily work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and components in university buildings
  • Diagnose and resolving plumbing issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Modify and upgrade existing plumbing infrastructure to meet operational needs
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, safety regulations, and university standards
  • Collaborate with other trades and departments to support campus-wide maintenance and operations
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and service records
