About The Position

Pipe fitters are responsible for installing complex piping systems on the ship and in the shop. More than 23 miles of pipe are installed on a submarine, and over 230 miles of pipe are installed on a carrier. As a pipe fitter, you will learn to read blueprints, fabricate, install, inspect, and test the many piping systems onboard a ship. In your first few weeks, you will attend a Fundamentals of Piping Fitting class to receive important information for the job. Throughout your career, you will also receive additional training to enhance your knowledge.

Requirements

  • Able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces
  • Able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb
  • Able to lift 40 lbs
  • Must take and pass a respirator fit test
  • Able to work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions
  • Able to work assigned shift as production needs
  • Able to pass Physical Agility Test

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
