About The Position

The Pioneer Village Assistant Manager is responsible for supervising, organizing, and participating in the operation of the Pioneer Village area in accordance with Lagoon's policies and procedures. The Pioneer Village Assistant Manager will actively participate in the training, coaching, and supervising of the PV Crew employees and Pioneer Village Supervisors. The Pioneer Village Assistant Manager will also actively participate in the pre- and post-season preparation of the Pioneer Village area. Essential Functions of the Job Supervise subordinates and participate in maintaining the Pioneer Village area in accordance with company policies and procedures. This includes maintaining cleanliness of the individual buildings, exhibits, outdoor areas, and indoor areas, as well as carrying out various maintenance tasks and communicating with other departments to facilitate other maintenance tasks as needed. Opening the exhibit buildings in the Pioneer Village area each day before the park is open to guests and closing the buildings at the predetermined closing time in accordance with the Lagoon Park Operating Schedule. This task may also be delegated to the Pioneer Village Supervisor. Responsible for monitoring the activities of all Pioneer Village employees, ensuring that all positions are properly staffed, facilitating Pioneer Village operation, and for participating in guest service skills in accordance with Lagoon's policies and procedures. Participate alongside the PV Crew if needed in daily cleaning and maintenance tasks of the Pioneer Village area. This includes, but is not limited to: Sweeping or otherwise cleaning various walking paths, cleaning the floors inside of the various exhibits, cleaning the inside of various displays as needed, changing lightbulbs, cleaning glass, checking for efficacy of locks and alarms, cleaning tables and benches, cleaning park signage, cleaning fences and barriers in the Pioneer Village area, clearing debris, and any other cleaning or maintenance tasks as assigned by Management. Closely monitor and adjust labor in their assigned area to maintain efficiency as well as meet labor budgets and goals. Responsible for submitting Work Orders as needed to ensure that other Lagoon departments are properly recruited to complete larger maintenance functions that cannot be completed by Pioneer Village personnel. Perform various duties during normal and unusual situations and different modes of operation and will respond quickly to unusual situations, including power failure, smoke alarms, and security alarms. Communicate professionally and respectfully with other Lagoon departments to accomplish various maintenance tasks which may include Carpenters, Electricians, Painters, etc. Must carry a two-way radio or other form of communication in order to be available for immediate response. Must be able to read and assimilate information provided in the Pioneer Village Division Manual, the Seasonal Employee Handbook, and the Lagoon Policies and Procedures Manual, as well as comprehend verbal instructions from the training Pioneer Village Manager. Must be able to remain focused on the job while dealing with interruptions from guests and/or other employee contact. Must be willing and able to perform all other job duties and assignments assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Each Pioneer Village Assistant Manager must complete at least one year employed as a PV Crew member at Lagoon and one year as a Pioneer Village Supervisor, and have demonstrated exceptional performance, excellent attendance, and noticeable leadership abilities.
  • This position requires availability to work a variable weekly schedule, zero to seven days per week.
  • This position has variable hour shifts that may begin as early as 1:00 a.m. and end as late as 11:00 p.m.
  • Weekly scheduled shifts may include morning shifts, midday shifts, or evening shifts on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Hours may vary depending on the needs of Pioneer Village Management.
  • Must be able to use and/or operate various types of cleaning equipment, such as brooms, mops, hoses, blowers, spray bottles, or other equipment as assigned by Management.
  • Must be able to use fingers, hands, arms, and legs to reach, operate equipment, climb stairs, and use hands to handle and feel.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, reach above the head, or stoop for the duration of a shift up to eight (8) hours.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to forty (40) pounds.
  • Must be able to move cleaning equipment which could include pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting.
