SUMMARY The Manufacturing Header Journeyman maximizes efficiency through the process of set-ups and operations of two or more header machines for the manufacture of all types of bolts and special products launch for new or revised products. Processes methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Working experience in fastener manufacturing environment
  • Advance knowledge of heading machinery and procedures
  • Working knowledge with quality and SPC.
  • A minimum of 6 years equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend correspondence and basic technical procedures. Ability to write basic reports and instructions to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios and standard units of measurements.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and follow instructions in written and basic diagram formats. Ability to perform and apply different problem solving techniques, handle internal/external situations and multi-task functions.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word; SPC, and departmental applications (Shop Floor System).
  • Evidence of “US person” is required under ITAR

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently sets-up, operates and maintains 2 or more header machines according to detail blueprints, specifications, work orders and instructions. Selects and obtains proper material and tooling for the job. Checks tooling and has rework done as needed to manufacture part to print specification.
  • Operates header machines to manufacture various types of fasteners. Maintains correct dimensions of parts while running the job using measuring instruments such as micrometers, comparators, calipers, and gauges, inspects completed parts to ensure they meet blueprints/specifications.
  • Productivity on both machines (which run concurrently) is consistently maintained at performance standards associated with daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s.
  • Assists and trains less qualified machine operators as needed.
  • Recognizes improper machine functioning and makes required adjustments.
  • Able to identify, perform and troubleshoot heading operations in manufacturing for improved quality and tooling life.
  • Represents Pins manufacturing on cross-functional teams or in-house committees.
  • Conduct or assist with peer development training per established departmental requirements as needed.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and use shop and measuring tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks per specification, Master cam (CAM software) and acts in accordance with output and demonstrates knowledge and use of Shop Floor Systems.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Works under limited supervision with a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Adheres to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, practices, and procedures.
  • All employees are responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • All employees are required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities to elimination of production and waste
  • Performs a variety of other tasks and duties.
  • Respecting and ensuring respect for the instructions and rules established in the field of health, safety and the environment (in particular the LISI golden rules)
  • Immediately correcting, whenever possible, or reporting to his or her superiors and/or the HSE department, any malfunction or risky situation in the fields of health, safety and environmental protection
  • Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks
  • Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work
  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives
  • To be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact
