About The Position

As Pilot Scale Technician , you perform a variety of laboratory and pilot-scale operations to support OLED process development. You will help operate small reactors and kilo-lab equipment, with a emphasis on safety, accuracy, and adherence to standard operating procedures. You will independently implement chemical processes, maintain detailed records, and help troubleshoot and improve operations. We require prior laboratory or manufacturing experience with chemical handling. You will report to the Product Development Operations Lead and we will base you on-site at the Monroeville, PA facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical technology, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory, pilot plant, or chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Operate chemical process equipment (reactors, filtration systems, vacuum distillation units).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Safety record and understanding of chemical hygiene and hazardous material handling.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and initiative to improve operations.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work extended hours or alternative shifts (Tuesday–Saturday or Wednesday–Sunday).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform daily operations in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Independently operate and shut down kilo-lab systems and related equipment.
  • Prepare, measure, and blend raw materials according to defined process instructions.
  • Conduct reactions and product isolations following SOPs and quality specifications.
  • Record process parameters, material usage, and observations in logbooks or electronic systems.
  • Identify equipment or process issues and contribute to root-cause investigations.
  • Support improvement programs for safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Coordinate across shifts and work with chemists and other team members.
