About The Position

Pilot Plant Research Technician Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are seeking a Pilot Plant Research Technician that will report to the Corporate Office in Greeley, CO ! This position supports the Pilgrim’s Research and Development team in creating new products and mixing new blends for our prepared chicken products. The ideal candidate will be excellent at following verbal and written instructions and have a passion for all things culinary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience in a professional kitchen or other culinary environment (food processing) required.
  • Basic office environment experience required.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Prior food safety background through experience with a facility under USDA, FDA, Local health department or through other training.
  • High work ethic, dependable, and be able to work without close supervision.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to handle physical activity which includes the following: lift minimum 50 lbs. and stand on your feet for long periods of time (4-6) hrs.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Mechanical and computer skills are required.
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Operate in a USDA inspected facility following all the rules and regulations associated with this requirement.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions to mix/blend formulations for sample production.
  • Ensuring documentation of procedures, processes and operations is complete and accurate in compliance with Food Safety standards.
  • Setup, operate and breakdown pilot plant equipment for the purpose of making samples, equipment clean up and completing equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in sample production to R&D / Culinary teams.
  • Manage daily shipping and receiving operations for the pilot plant.
  • Collect data on raw materials and finished products to be reported back to the project manager.
  • Ensure the pilot plant is kept clean, organized, and maintains a safety-first approach.
  • Inventory management on ingredients and incoming products
  • Billing payments to service providers
  • Other duties as assigned
