About The Position

Job Summary: Responsible for complying with all company, state and federal aviation regulations in order to safely and efficiently operate aircraft to support the operations of the company. This position in part of the bargaining unit of the IBEW Local 787. Requires availability for on call and standby per Collective Bargaining Agreement. Job Description: During the first year assigned to Luma air operations branch pilot will complete aircraft initial qualification course in both A Star AS350B2 and MD530FF. Training will commence for power line inspection, local area operation, photo missions and introduction to power line construction. Classes on flight into wire environment, Human External (HEC), H1 academics. Comply with FAA regulations, the company's operations manual(s), and any applicable state, municipal, and any domestic or foreign government regulations. Operate an aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, with emphasis on compliance with any applicable manuals, such as the appropriate Rotorcraft Flight Manual, the Aeronautical Information manual or the International Airman's Information Manual. Work with customers to provide courteous, efficient, reliable and safe service. Deliver all appropriate documents in good order and on time. Accept a shift only when it complies with flight and flight time regulations and maintain a physical condition that is medically fit and includes rest. Maintain a logbook or other reliable record in accordance with federal aviation regulations to show the most recent flight experience. Complete a Flight Hour Summary and update the summary annually. Complete continuing pilot training provided by the Chief Pilot. Responsible for having all your certifications up to date: pilot, medical, flight instructor if applicable, ratings, etc. Responsible for conducting the assigned flight in a safe, correct and legal manner, such as reducing loads as applicable, ensuring the landing area is safe, orienting personnel who will be working around the aircraft, and delaying flights due to weather conditions or other reasons. Responsible for the overall safety of passengers and crew, which includes conducting a passenger and crew orientation. Accept responsibility for checking the aircraft daily before flying and after flying and demonstrating professionalism. Responsible for communicating timely and efficiently with the maintenance department when the aircraft needs something to minimize aircraft downtime and loss of production. Assist as a spotter to enhance safety during the aircraft movement to and from the hangar. Time management skills with the ability to adapt to changes in priorities. Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical communication skills. Excellent proficiency in aviation computer applications required. Extensive knowledge and understanding of all applicable company policies and procedures and FAA Regulations, Operating Certificate and Operations department. Comply with required exams regarding Knowledge Assessment. Follow all policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. As assigned, perform restoration work and participate in associated drills in the event of a major storm. Additional Job Description: TECHNICAL FUNCTIONS: Power Line Inspection (PLI); Lidar Camera; Thermography; Corona, or other operational support. Light and Intermediate Helicopter

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required
  • Minimum of (5) years of experience in aviation (general)
  • 1,500 flight hours (helicopter)
  • 500 Pilot in Command (PIC) hrs (helicopter)
  • 300 Turbine hrs (general)
  • Commercial Pilot Helicopter Certification
  • Instrument Helicopter Certification
  • Employee must hold all applicable licenses to perform the duties
  • Valid Medical FAA Certificate (Minimum Second Class)
  • Time management skills with the ability to adapt to changes in priorities.
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical communication skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in aviation computer applications required.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of all applicable company policies and procedures and FAA Regulations, Operating Certificate and Operations department.
