About The Position

Workers are required to tutor students in both algebra and calculus-based physics classes and assist the faculty member in grading lab reports, as directed by the instructor. Other responsibilities would involve filing, setting up lab equipment, and monitoring students who are making up missed labs. Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed Career & Self-Development including managing time and developing tutoring skills. . Communication in the form of speaking to fellow students. Critical Thinking in the form of solving physics problems. Global Literacy is displayed by working with students from different countries. Leadership allows students to solve their own problems. Professionalism by managing the work area, and keeping it orderly. Teamwork including working with other tutors. Requirements

  • Students must have completed PHY 231 with a grade of B or above and must be approved by the instructor of that class.
  • Students are expected to continue the calculus-based physics sequence, again maintaining a B in each class.
  • Students must be able to interact with other students in a positive supporting manner.
  • Students must be able to lift 25 lbs.
