Physics Teacher, Upward Bound Program
About The Position
Wilkes University invites applicants for an open Physics high school teaching position in the Upward Bound Program for the summer session. Upward Bound is a federally funded Trio Program, which provides support to participants in their preparation for college and ultimately, in their higher education pursuits. The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the core academic component of the program by means of teaching physics content to a small group of high school level students by using hands-on experiments, problem-solving activities, and discussions. Emphasis will be placed on scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world applications of physics. A Bachelor's degree in Education, Physics, and/or a related field is required. Experience working with high school students or in a college-preparatory program is preferred. Please note that this is a part-time, temporary position with a competitive hourly wage. Summer program dates run from June 22nd through July 31st and classes are held throughout the week, Monday - Thursday (8:00 A.M. – 12:00P.M.). Teachers may or may not, work the whole 4 hours, depending on the class size and student need; minimum of two (2), 50 minute class periods, Monday - Thursday. Requirements
