About The Position
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, invites applications for a faculty position to begin August 2026. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy or related field, ability to pursue a strong and independent research agenda, and a clear commitment to both undergraduate and graduate teaching. Requirements
- PhD in physics or astronomy or related field
- Ability to pursue a strong and independent research agenda
- A clear commitment to both undergraduate and graduate teaching
- All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
- All faculty are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
- Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrine of the affiliated church.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent teaching and research mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Participate in various forms of service to the department, university, and their research community
- Develop externally funded research programs of significance
- Publish in quality, peer-reviewed journals
