The Physician provides comprehensive medical care in a correctional healthcare setting, including diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. This role will collaborate with nursing and other healthcare staff to develop and implement treatment plans, and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. The Physician also maintains accurate medical records and adheres to all regulations and facility policies. Below is just a sample of the amazing reasons to consider working for MEDIKO! MEDIKO was founded 28 years ago by the same physician that still owns and operates it today. Physicians report clinically to our Chief Medical Officer. You will not be scheduled during weekends or company-recognized holidays. A dedicated Nurse will assist you when you see patients. Patient loads generally range from 15-22 per day. You have autonomy to refer individuals to see a specialist as needed. Our formulary is very generous and allows you to prescribe the appropriate type of medications solely based on your judgment. Nurses use comprehensive Nursing Guidelines when screening individual patients before you see them. All behavioral and mental health patients are diagnosed and managed by Licensed Mental Health Professionals and Psychiatrists. Protocols and guidelines for management of individuals who might be in withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, and other illicit substances. Medical Records assistants obtain offsite medical records for patients when available. Our EMR system is very user-friendly and a dedicated in-house support team will train you and troubleshoot any issues as needed. No insurance hassled! Most new arrivals to the detention center are released or bonded out within the first week.
