About The Position

The Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System is seeking a board certified/eligible general urologist with a focus in endourology and stone disease. Successful candidates will be able to perform HOLEP and PCNLs. We are a major resident training site for the University of Minnesota, Department of Urology. Candidates will participate in resident education and should be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized amount to be determined Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Requirements

  • Board certified/eligible general urologist
  • Eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota
  • 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Responsibilities

  • Clinical responsibilities including admissions, consultation, workup, pre/post-operative care to treat various conditions, illnesses, and injuries of the genitourinary system.
  • Privileges specifically include retroperitoneal procedures, the medical and surgical treatment of diseases related to the kidney, adrenal, ureter, bladder, urethra, prostate, pelvic lymph nodes and male and female genitalia.
  • Has specialty interest in endourology with ability to perform HOLEP/PCNLs.
  • Teach/mentor residents (PGY1-5) including outpatient, inpatient, and operative management.
  • Opportunity to participate in lectures, conferences, and research.
  • Participate equally in On-Call coverage (weekdays, weekends, and holidays).
  • Maintain good diagnostic, judgmental, and therapeutic acumen.
  • Participate in outreach clinics in local CBOCs within the Twin Cities Metro Area.
  • Potential for dedicated research time.
