About The Position

The Physician Relations Liaison at UAMS will play a critical role in fostering and maintaining strong relationships with community physicians to support targeted hospital and specialty service line growth goals. This position requires a dynamic professional who can act as a bridge between physicians and UAMS service lines, proactively identifying needs, presenting value-added solutions, and driving engagement. The Liaison will work closely with leadership to track and achieve growth metrics, address challenges, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Equivalent experience (4 years of professional-level work) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of sales experience, preferably in physician recruitment, medical, or pharmaceutical sales.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with physicians and other professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships with physician office staff, hospital departments, and other providers.
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking abilities to assess needs and develop solutions.
  • Initiative and judgment to handle organizationally and politically sensitive situations.
  • Strong follow-through and results tracking to meet measurable targets.
  • Conflict management and change facilitation skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all job-related matters.
  • Proficiency in computer software and account management tools (e.g., Salesforce, ACT, or similar platforms).
  • Familiarity with the anatomy of a sales call, including opening, probing, proving, closure, and securing commitments.
  • Knowledge of Stark, Anti-trust, and kickback laws and their application in communications.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and execute growth goals to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics.
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to leadership, including input into operating reports (MOR) on sales encounters and activity tracking.
  • Develop bridge plans with leadership if metrics are not being met.
  • Allocate the majority of time to building and nurturing existing and new relationships with physicians and key individuals, proactively identifying needs and presenting ways UAMS service lines can add value.
  • Research physician clients, gather market and specialty information, and create physician/practice profiles before initial visits.
  • Conduct routine sales calls and visits with community physicians and their staff within guidelines set by the Sr. Director, coordinating internal sales activities with other service areas (e.g., laboratory, radiology, outpatient services).
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with physicians and staff, facilitating problem resolution while utilizing efficient communication tools tailored to individual physician preferences.
  • Report issues to the Sr. Director, Service Line Directors, and Hospital Leadership to identify root causes and drive problem resolution.
  • Respond promptly to situations requiring immediate attention as directed by administration.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with service line directors and hospital personnel to coordinate activities, share visit insights, and set target lists for future sales efforts.
  • Maintain issues and status logs from these meetings and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintain an encounter file of visits and discussions using an account management platform to enable prompt follow-up and monitoring.
