About The Position

The Tomah VA Medical Center is located in an attractive, rural community of 9,000 with a family-oriented, Midwest atmosphere. While Tomah offers the benefits of small community living, big city life isn't far away. La Crosse and Madison, WI are an hour or so away and Milwaukee, WI and Minneapolis, MN are a three-hour drive. The area offers high quality public and parochial schools, a local community hospital and a multitude of recreational activities year-round. Recruiting for Two (2) experienced highly qualified Board Certified/Board Eligible physician for the Primary Care Clinic at the Tomah Medical Center. The primary care clinic hours of operation at Tomah Medical Center are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Federal holidays are excluded from normal clinic hours of operation. The Associate Chief of Staff - Medicine Service will provide the work assignments for this physician and will provide professional direction. The medical center utilizes a computerized medical record system. The physician must be familiar with personal computers, have adequate keyboard skills to perform all data entry (progress notes and physician orders, history and physicals, discharge summaries), and be able to navigate through windows based computer programs. The areas abundant water resources make canoeing, fishing, boating, water-skiing, and swimming popular summer activities. Scenic bluffs and waterways line the eleven state parks within a one hour drive of Tomah. The Elroy-Sparta State Trail, one of the most popular bike trails in the country, is an easy drive or bike ride from the medical center. River backwaters, wooded coulees, and remnant prairies provide excellent scenery on the trails for wildlife enthusiasts. For winter enjoyment, abundant snow cover on well-groomed trails provides snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Mt. La Crosse, a 40 minute drive from Tomah, offers downhill skiing as well.
