This position provides supervision and leadership of the MEH Hospitalist program in addition to direct patient care. The LPH provides comprehensive health care services for inpatients and emergency patients at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital and serves as a community liaison and referral physician for communities and clinics throughout Southeast Alaska. This position requires prioritization of multiple clinical and administrative duties. Duties include program planning and development, scheduling, supervision of clinical staff, and performance improvement activities. Clinical work involves high level medical decision making for patients of all ages in the Emergency Room and inpatient settings. The LPH may cover multiple areas of the facility at the same time and is responsible for all patients on the premises. The incumbent works to ensure that health care delivered throughout the facility is of the highest quality from the individual provider and system levels.
