About The Position

Tower Health Medical Group seeks a Physician, Interventional Cardiology to work at Reading Hospital in West Reading, PA. The Physician, Interventional Cardiology will provide and manage direct patient care for adult medicine service patients and subspecialty patients. The position entails diagnosing and treating heart attacks, coronary artery disease, structural heart disease, congenital heart defects, and other heart conditions using minimally invasive procedures, most often cardiac catheterization. Cardiac catheterization is performed by inserting the catheter into a small incision in the patient’s upper thigh, arm or neck and guided to an artery and into their heart. The Physician, Interventional Cardiology will perform these procedures in our catheterization labs, electrophysiology labs, and hybrid operating rooms (which allow combined interventional cardiology and open surgery approaches). With the help of catheters, imaging equipment, and tiny instruments, doctors can offer treatments with very little recovery time. In this position, the Physician, Interventional Cardiology’s specific day-to-day duties will include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from accredited school of medicine or foreign equivalent.
  • Must have a Pennsylvania medical license.
  • Completion of accredited three-year internal medicine residency
  • Completion of a three-year cardiology or cardiovascular disease fellowship
  • Completion of one-year interventional cardiology fellowship.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease

Responsibilities

  • Providing and managing direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specific patient population
  • Prescribing pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions
  • Referring patients to specialists and to relevant patientcare components as appropriate
  • May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function
  • Directing and coordinating the patient care activities of nursing and support stuff as required
  • Following established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental and/or infection control standards.
