About The Position

Corewell Health's Meijer Heart & Vascular Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking to add a heart and lung transplant surgeon to their exceptional team. The ideal candidate is collaborative and team-focused with experience in heart and lung transplant and VAD implantation. The group welcomes experience in all aspects of organ transplant including procurement, organ offer review, recipient management. Opportunity Highlights Richard DeVos Heart and Lung Transplant program started in 2010 and has completed 257 heart, 404 lung, and 546 durable LVADs to date Largest open heart surgery program in Michigan with 1,600 open heart surgery procedures, 400 TAVRs, 120 ECMO/year Largest thoracic transplant program in Michigan with 45 heart transplants and 51 lung transplants in 2024 State of the art facilities within the Meijer Heart Center including 5 cardiothoracic operating rooms, 2 hybrid operating rooms, 9 bed cardiac recovery unit, and 36 bed cardiac ICU Cardiothoracic surgery fellowship teaching opportunities Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital Right in the heart of Grand Rapids, you'll find a nationally recognized hospital for patient quality and safety and the regional leader in full-service hospitals. Requirements

  • BC/BE in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or Equivalent
  • Ability to obtain a full unrestricted Michigan medical license
  • Required Doctorate
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
