About The Position

JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Physician – Gastroenterology
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Plattsburgh, NY
• Service Setting: Hospital – Inpatient / Endoscopy
• Coverage Type: Clinical + Call
• Coverage Period: 05/18/2026 – 12/31/2026; one week of coverage per month (Mon–Sun)
• Clinical Shift Schedule: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM; procedures typically performed Mon–Thu
• On-Call: 24-hour call required on select coverage days (typically Fri–Sun)

COVERAGE DETAILS
• Coverage begins once credentialed
• Approximately one week of coverage per month
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults & Geriatrics
• Patient Volume: ~10–15 inpatient consults
• Case Mix: Gastroenterology inpatient consults and endoscopic procedures
• Daily Workflow: Procedures typically performed in the morning; rounding and consults in the afternoon
FACILITY INFORMATION
• Trauma Level: Level III
• EMR System: Epic
• Support Staff: Nurse Practitioner support available
• Specialty Backup: Multispecialty hospital support

Requirements

• Active New York Medical License
• BC/BE in Gastroenterology
• Gastroenterology Fellowship Required
• Active DEA
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Epic preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology consult services
• Perform elective and urgent endoscopic procedures
• Round on hospitalized patients and manage GI consults
• Provide call coverage for urgent/emergent GI cases
• Collaborate with NP and multidisciplinary care teams
