About The Position

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital is seeking a board eligible/board certified Family Medicine (with Addiction Medicine) experienced physician to join our Family Medicine team and new ACGME-accredited rural Family Medicine residency as program faculty. Grand Itasca is a fully integrated multi-specialty clinic and hospital located in Northern Minnesota. Practice Opportunity Under the direction of the Residency Program Director, this position supports the Family Medicine Residency Program through integrated behavioral health and addiction medicine services, resident education, supervision, and program development within a team-based primary care environment. The Physician Faculty provides comprehensive medical and behavioral health care, with an emphasis on addiction medicine, substance use disorders, complex behavioral health conditions, and integrated care delivery. This role works collaboratively with behavioral health clinicians, residents, mental and behavioral health providers, and primary care providers. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this position serves as physician core faculty for the Family Medicine Residency Program, contributing to resident supervision, addiction medicine training, curriculum development, quality improvement initiatives, and program advancement, assuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and patient care. The program's core faculty are essential members of the residency leadership team and will need to demonstrate evaluation and assessment skills, leadership, and an understanding of the Family Medicine core competencies and Milestones.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
  • Experience in integrated primary care models.
  • Interest and some experience in addiction medicine.
  • Strong desire to support a rural residency program.
  • Eligible for medical licensure and DEA registration.
  • Minimum two (2) years clinical experience post-residency (fellowship time may count).

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training in Addiction Medicine or Board Certification in Addiction Medicine.
  • Experience teaching in a residency or academic setting.
  • Experience developing MOUD programs.
  • Leadership experience in behavioral health or addiction services.
  • Research or quality improvement experience in addiction medicine or integrated care
