About The Position

The Division of Infectious Diseases is recruiting a faculty member (academic rank determined at hire) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (Anschutz Medical Campus) with a primary interest in orthopedic infectious diseases both clinically and in research/scholarship. The ideal applicant would be prepared to develop a clinical research program in orthopedic infections and mentor other faculty. Clinical duties will be primarily in orthopedic infections and general ID. Responsibilities will include inpatient and outpatient consultative services, active involvement in the musculoskeletal infections program, development of research projects and quality improvement and participation in division educational activities. This position offers an exciting and unique chance to work in a multidisciplinary setting as a member of the limb restoration and salvage team.

Requirements

  • MD/DO (or equivalent) or MD-PhD degree
  • Completion of ID fellowship at accredited program
  • Should be board certified/eligible
  • ID clinical practice skills
  • Collegiality
  • Ability to liaison well with other specialties, particularly orthopedic surgeons
  • Teaching and mentoring skills
  • Scholarly work according to interest and aptitude

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in basic, translational or clinical research.

Responsibilities

  • Outpatient clinical services for general and orthopedic infectious diseases
  • Inpatient consultative services on orthopedic and general services.
  • Supervise fellow/resident/medical students on inpatient services
  • Working with APPs and clinical support staff on inpatient and outpatient services
  • Develop clinical research program in orthopedics ID
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring of trainees
  • Publish scholarly work from research and quality improvement projects
  • Participate in division case conferences, journal clubs and grand rounds
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds for discussion of complex infectious diseases cases with orthopedics, plastic surgery and other specialties.
