About The Position

The Certified Physician Extender will work in collaboration with a physician to provide primary care services for ambulatory patients in the Jackson Clinic. Performs new patient, follow-up, and walk-in visits in collaboration with the primary care physician. Documents and submits to the physician a list of patient encounters made each day for approval. Documents and submits charges for all patient encounters in the electronic medical record. Assists and takes initiative in handling issues of a non-routine nature. Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• National certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is also required.
• Previous work experience is required in the ambulatory care setting.
• Current licensure as a CRNP or as a Physician Assistant in the State of Alabama.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required, as well as leadership and organizational abilities.
• We require an individual who is self-directed and who will accept accountability for their actions.
