About The Position

OAM + i’move is seeking a Physician Assistant – Spine (Surgery & Office) to join our Physician Assistant team. This role involves providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients through pre-operative evaluations, first-assisting in spine surgeries, and post-operative management. You’ll perform patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, assist in surgical procedures, manage treatment plans, and ensure seamless continuity of care for our surgical patients. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced PA to develop advanced orthopedic skills within a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of orthopedic and surgical principles; excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; professional demeanor; computer literacy and proficiency in EMR systems; commitment to patient-centered care and confidentiality.
  • Education & Experience: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
  • Physical Requirements: Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to stand and walk for extended periods; occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 30 pounds; ability to work under pressure, in surgical environments, and with exposure to bodily fluids and other clinical conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in a physician office or hospital setting is preferred, with orthopedic or surgical rotation experience highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as first assist in surgical spine cases, including patient positioning, assisting during procedures, wound closure, and post-op documentation.
  • Conduct preoperative histories, physicals, and patient education.
  • Manage inpatient hospital rounds, providing follow-up care and timely documentation.
  • Evaluate patients in clinic—conduct examinations, order diagnostic tests, and assist in developing treatment plans.
  • Apply and remove casts, splints, and dressings; perform suture removal.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with Michigan law and practice protocols.
  • Coordinate patient communication, phone triage, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR, ensuring compliance with coding and billing requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, staff education, and compliance training.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and uphold all OSHA, HIPAA, and risk management standards.
