Requirements

  • Active Physician Assistant license (NC Medical Board)
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant, ideally in rheumatology, internal medicine, or another chronic disease specialty
  • Strong communication, clinical judgment, and patient education skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS)
  • ACLS certification
  • Prior experience using EHR systems (especially Allscripts or Veradigm)

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care to patients with rheumatologic conditions, including autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
  • Perform thorough assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment and management plans.
  • Prescribe medications and monitor ongoing therapy in accordance with current standards and clinic protocols.
  • Educate and empower patients to understand their conditions and take an active role in their care.
  • Collaborate closely with rheumatologists and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the EHR.
  • Participate in clinic meetings, ongoing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
