About The Position

The PA is responsible for promoting and demonstrating Parrish Healthcare’s Culture of Choice®; ensuring clinical quality as well as strategic goals and objectives are met or exceeded according to State of Florida regulatory guidelines for nurse practitioners. The PA will effectively fulfill our mission to provide Healing Experiences for Everyone all the Time® and achieve organizational strategic (Game Plan) goals. PA shall exercise professional judgement as to all aspects of PA’s medical practice that relates directly to providing medical care to PA’s patients. Medical services shall be rendered in accordance with the professional and ethical standards of the medical community in North Brevard County and applicable national, state and local medical societies and licensing agencies. This position reports to the AVP, Parrish Medical Group Operations and supervising provider.

Requirements

  • Masters in Nursing required, Doctorate of Nursing preferred. Physician Assistant program required.
  • Two or more years of clinical experience as an APRN or PA at a physician practice or in a hospital with a related specialty is strongly preferred.
  • Clear and Active Florida Physician Assistant License required.
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number required.
  • BLS through The American Heart Association required.
  • ACLS through the American Heart Association is required if applicable to specialty or clinical assignment need.

Responsibilities

  • Functions independently by implementing appropriate evidence-based standardized procedures/protocols and by effectively manages a panel of patients; Conducts comprehensive assessments of patients; gathers health history, performs physical examinations, appropriately prescribes medications, effectively diagnoses and treats illnesses/injuries, ensures annual wellness milestones are met (e.g. screenings and vaccinations); and ensures compliance with CMS quality metrics related to MIPS/HEIDS, etc.
  • Notifies managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals and support services
  • Dictate and document all patient interactions and services rendered per medical record completion policy
  • Influences the innovation, development and growth of service strategies for assigned functional area(s) - assures the achievement of departmental dashboard metrics within each strategic pillar (People, Service, Quality, Growth, Finance); takes immediate and effective steps to assure national benchmarks are achieved or sustained.
  • Maintains membership with Parrish Health Network and Medical Staff Privileges as required.
  • Ensures the adherence of systems, processes, policies and procedures that result in assigned patients always receiving excellent patient experiences as measured by HCAHPS and/or other national customer service best-practice benchmarks.
  • Completes, executes and/or maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date medical records, charts and reports for all patients treated and/or examined.
  • Effectively communicates with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families.
  • Ensures the adherence to systems, processes, policies and procedures that result in a continuous improvement environment within which assigned patients always receive national best/leading-practice standards for quality and excellence as measured by HIPAA, CMS (e.g. MIPS, HEIDS), The Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies pertinent to areas of responsibility; holding self and others accountable for actions and outcomes.
  • Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
  • Ensures adherence to systems, processes, policies and procedures that result in an inclusive, collaborative, healing work environment within which national best/leading-practice standards for employee engagement are achieved as measured by effective performance management, problem-solving and conflict resolution, mentoring aspiring care partners; leading effective orientation, onboarding, recognition, training and professional development initiatives; and inspiring fellow care partner commitment to our mission, vision, values and safe care pledge.
  • Maintains skills and knowledge within professional practice of self and within assigned functional area(s); able to step in and serve as back up to assigned care partners to cover staffing needs as necessary.
  • Maintains systems, processes, policies and procedures that result in effective planning and administration of annual budget(s); productive, cost efficient and effective operations; and corrective actions for any operating expenses that deviate from budget.
  • Complies with all applicable laws that affect reimbursement from Medicaid, Medicare, or any third-party payor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
