Functions in collaboration with qualified physicians within the framework of jointly approved guidelines and protocols. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs advanced patient assessments including complete health and psychosocial history and physical assessment. Orders and interprets routine laboratory tests. Orders appropriate medications and/or medical devices. Provides for therapeutic treatments and procedures as per delegation of services agreement. Seeks consultation of the physician for patient conditions outlined in agreement. Arranges referrals to other members of the health team as needed and to community resources as appropriate. Demonstrates awareness of current state, federal and local laws governing the delivery of care, including reporting as required by law and complying with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Respects the dignity and privacy of patients. Provides open and timely communication and education to patients, families and significant others to allow participation in care. Demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and development by obtaining continuing education in areas of practice and maintain current CPR and other appropriate licensures/certifications. Demonstrates professional appearance and conduct including excellent attendance record. Works to maintain a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with patients, families and staff. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner to the community. Follows proper procedures for the disposal of hazardous waste.
