About The Position

The Critical Care PA will provide direct clinical services to critically ill patients with multi-organ or multi-system disease failure in adult surgical, and medical ICU's. The PA will work per diem days or nights. Responsibilities include: Documentation of patient health histories and complete physical examinations Formulate and implement treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the supervising physician Assess patients’ change in status and institute appropriate interventions Initiate necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patients Provide family centered care, communicating with family regarding the changing health care needs of their family members Perform approved diagnostic therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on the patient’s clinical status Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital (MVH) is a 121-bed, community-based teaching hospital that has been serving the medical needs of the community and region since its founding in 1891. Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital provides inpatient, critical care and ambulatory services. The Hospital is part of Montefiore Health System, a premier academic medical center and the University Hospital system for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital is a New York State-designated Stroke Center and HIV/AIDS Center, and it is home to the Beale Chronic Wound Treatment and Hyperbaric Center and the Montefiore School of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant school
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Registered as a Physician's Assistant in New York
  • ACLS/BLS
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a PA in Critical Care a plus
