About The Position

The Cardiovascular Surgery Physician’s Assistant functions as a provider and coordinator of direct patient care and as a first assistant to the supervising surgeon. The Cardiovascular Physician’s Assistant performs tasks and services under the direct control and supervision of a state-approved supervising physician in accordance with the mission and philosophy, standards policies, and practices of Enloe Medical Center.

Requirements

• One year of experience in acute patient care with an emphasis on cardiac care
• Successful completion of a clinical rotation in cardiac services.
• Current California Physician Assistant License
• Certification by NCCPA, if not graduate from accredited ARC PA program
• Current CPR certification
• ACLS within 6 months of hire
• Credentialed through the Enloe Medical Staff and Finance offices
• Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number or proof of application
• Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis.
• Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and the public.
• Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
• Must have the ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Must have the ability to perform as a preceptor in the training of students and new employees, and the ability to act as a department resource and a positive role model
• Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

• One year clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in an acute care facility
• Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
