About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Physician Assistant - Behavioral Health to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. Jacobi Medical Center is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and North Central Bronx Hospital (NCB) has 213 licensed beds. To this day, Jacobi and NCB remain respected leaders in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, burn care, pediatrics, primary care, and women’s health. Opportunity Details: Conduct a broad range of evaluative and care functions in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program/ Psychiatric Emergency Room, the Inpatient Psychiatric Service, and the Comprehensive Alcoholism Treatment Center Inpatient Service.

Requirements

  • Current New York State registration as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current certification issued by the NCCPA.
  • For Behavioral Health functions: Demonstration of proficiency.
  • For auricular acupuncture, under supervision of a physician - this competency requires certification of completion of an approved course of training.

Responsibilities

  • Detailed medical history and physical examinations, including the identification of acute and chronic medical problems, medication needs, and diagnostic plans.
  • Performance and/or interpretation of routine diagnostic studies, including venipuncture, arterial puncture, common radiologic studies, EKG tracings, and PAP smears.
  • Performance of routine therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, wound care, suturing, incision and drainage of superficial infections, and insertion of nasogastric tubes and bladder catheters.
  • Counseling of patients regarding physical and mental health, diet, disease prevention, health promotion, safe sexual practice, and reproductive planning.
  • Collaboration with the supervising Physician in the implementation of a plan of treatment, including the prescription of non-psychotropic medications, and documentation in the medical record of diagnostic studies, ongoing clinical status, and therapeutic plans.
  • Participation in life-saving measures in cases of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Benefits

  • Annual Base Salary: $131,127 - $174,836 based on 40-hour work week.
  • The annual total value of compensation package is estimated at $144,239 and $192,319, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution and other factors as set forth below:
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits): Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required. After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
