Lee Physician Group is looking for an experienced physician (M.D. or D.O) who is interested in an exciting role that promotes on-going peer education, dialogue and subject matter expertise in either medicine or surgery. As a non-clinical physician advisor, this individual works closely with the physicians, quality improvement team, case managers and patients. With the goal of optimizing patient thru-put and experience in the acute care setting, the Physician Advisor assists with ensuring documentation is accurate and complete based on patient results and payor policies. A dynamic individual who can communicate effectively and render respect among their peers is paramount. This individual works collaboratively to ensure appropriate patient status, review and manage payor denials, assist with documentation improvement opportunities and optimize resource utilization through standardization. This role is ideal for someone who loves to learn and enjoys educating! This candidate will lookat the InterQual criteria set by Medicare and insurance providers to determine if a patient meets admission criteria, is authorized for certain tests, meets authorization to be discharged to a different level of care, and can remain in the hospital beyond the expected level of care. They will work 1:1 with case management department and work on preauthorization denials as well. They will have one main hospital and float to other locations to support all specialties in the hospital. The schedule is Monday-Friday, normal business hours with on-call rotation for weekends.
