JPS offers 18 residency and fellowship programs, including the largest family medicine residency in the nation. --- Job Summary: The Addiction Specialist Physician will provide direct clinical care at the Tarrant County Jail to individuals with substance use disorders, primarily opioid use disorder, as part of a comprehensive jail-based Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. This role is critical in supporting recovery, reducing recidivism, and improving health outcomes for justice-involved individuals.

Requirements

  • Current Medical Doctor (M.D) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Successfully completed an accredited residency program
  • Board eligible in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to patient safety, efficiency, and equitable healthcare delivery.
  • Proficiency in the use of electronic health records (EHR).

  • Board Certification in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and delivers evidence-based addiction treatment services, including MAT, within the correctional setting.
  • Conducts assessments, diagnoses substance use disorders and develops individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribes and monitors FDA-approved medications for substance use disorders.
  • Ensures care delivery aligns with JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group guidelines.
  • Provides evidence-based, compassionate care to improve outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates patient-centered and value-driven behavior.
  • Collaborates with referring physicians, residents, clinical, and support staff to ensure high-quality care.
  • Supports academic, educational and research initiatives, providing ample opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committees.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, partners, patients, and the community to enhance the JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group experience, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.
  • Serves as a community resource.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
