Requirements

  • Proven record of matching patient needs to treatment plans and proven record of implementing these plans safely and effectively.
  • Experience administering a wide range of pediatric physical therapy techniques.
  • Knowledge of responsible use of facility equipment, and best practices for equipment.
  • Experience with implementing assistive equipment to clients or home health follow-up programs.
  • Experience with a wide range of pediatric injuries.
  • A strong sense of empathy, a compassionate outlook on PT, and the ability to motivate patients to push their limits in a responsible, safe way.
  • At least 1 year of experience providing physical therapy to pediatric clients; however a candidate with strong training experience will be considered.
  • Degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited PTA program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in pediatric therapy practice
  • Current PTA credentials/license for the state of operation.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides physical therapy services planned, delegated, and supervised by the qualified Physical Therapist in accordance with the patient’s Plan of Treatment
  • Collaborate with the Supervising Physical Therapist regularly regarding the patient’s treatment plan, progress toward goals, questions, and concerns.
  • Assists with cleaning and maintaining PT equipment, treatment, and therapy areas.
  • Communicates patient’s needs and progress to the Physical Therapist and assists in securing special adaptive equipment for patient to improve function
  • Incorporates the use of adaptive equipment to enhance the rehabilitation program.
  • Maintains and submits patient treatment and billing documentation in the format and timelines required by the Company, facility, funding source, and local, state, and federal regulations
  • Participates in all team meetings, staff development programs, and workshops
  • Maintain continuing education units as required by company policy and regulatory boards
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals working with their clients and refer clients to specialists when appropriate.
  • Perform ongoing physical therapy reassessments as allowable and according to standards of practice for PTAs.
  • Implement treatment plan on a consistent schedule and adjust this schedule and plan according to client progress.
