About The Position

Liberty POST is currently seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Pediatric Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to support physical therapists in providing high-quality care to preschool-aged children with a variety of developmental, neuromuscular, and orthopedic conditions. The PTA will assist in implementing individualized therapy programs designed to improve mobility, strength, coordination, and overall physical function in children from 3-5 years of age. Liberty POST has offered its clients a range of high-quality and individualized services since 1994. Backed by Liberty Resources Inc. and part of a large social services circle, originally POST was a speech-language practice in Syracuse NY and has grown to provide a range of services throughout all of New York State and New Jersey. We employ over 500 professionals in a variety of settings and offer a collaborative team approach to provide evaluation, direct therapy, and family education through child-directed play. We are focused on the importance of a child’s natural learning environment, a family’s unique strengths and needs and the diverse population we serve.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid New York State license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with children.
  • Patience, creativity, and ability to engage children in therapeutic play.
  • Knowledge of pediatric conditions such as cerebral palsy, developmental delays, autism, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: Pediatric experience preferred but not required. New grads with pediatric clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out treatment plans as directed by the pediatric physical therapist.
  • Assist children in performing specific exercises and therapeutic activities.
  • Monitor and document child progress during therapy sessions.
  • Encourage and motivate children during therapy to enhance participation and outcomes.
  • Adjust exercises as needed based on the child’s response and therapist’s direction.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and child-friendly therapy environment.
  • Communicate effectively with physical therapists, parents, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Ensure all documentation and records are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
