About The Position

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a dedicated and caring Physical Therapist (PT) to join its state-of-the-art Inpatient Rehab Unit within Hartford Hospital. This unit features 26 private inpatient rooms, providing patients with ongoing acute medical management, 24-hour rehabilitative nursing care, and the latest rehab techniques. The goal is to deliver personalized, coordinated care in a healing environment to shorten length of stay and facilitate a quicker, healthier return home. The position involves treating patients with various diagnoses, with a particular focus on stroke, traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries, and other neurological conditions. The unit fosters a collaborative interdisciplinary team atmosphere and approach to patient care, offering a special inpatient rehab setting with access to opportunities and benefits available within a system that provides a full continuum of rehab care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Physical Therapy Program from an accredited American Physical Therapy Association school, with a BS, MS or Doctoral degree.
  • Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT).

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluate patients to determine treatment strategies.
  • Deliver and/or delegate services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain, with emphasis on physical dysfunction.
  • Utilize evaluation skills and techniques, patient analysis, and therapeutic application of physical and chemical agents, exercise, and other procedures to maximize patient's functional independence.
  • Conduct evaluations involving strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, pain, balance, coordination, posture, cardiopulmonary function, endurance, gait, and functional abilities in activities of daily living.
