About The Position

The Physical Therapist provides evaluation, consultation, and therapeutic services to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position supports students in improving mobility, strength, coordination, and overall physical functioning to help them participate as fully as possible in educational and daily activities within the school environment.

Requirements

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
Current Pennsylvania Physical Therapy license required.
Must pass all required background checks and training requirements before employment.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in accordance with school policies.

Responsibilities

Evaluate students to determine physical therapy needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Provide individualized physical therapy services to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Implement therapeutic exercises and interventions to improve mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and motor development.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to support student participation in classroom and school activities.
Provide recommendations for adaptive equipment, positioning, and mobility supports.
Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and required reports in compliance with school and regulatory guidelines.
Communicate regularly with staff and families regarding student progress and therapy goals.
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions as needed.

Attend required staff training sessions and meetings as needed.
