About The Position

Physical Therapist Outpatient Orthopaedics PRN Lutheran Hospital Outpatient Physical Therapy in the vibrant Ohio City area of Cleveland. Outpatient Orthopedic experience preferred. Please state you specific availability in cover letter. Schedule Expectations: PRN hours will vary based on coverage needs. The Department is open M-TH 7am – 7pm. Friday 7am- 5pm There will be opportunity to pick up additional hours at various Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy locations in the western suburbs and Lorain County. As a Physical Therapist, you will create a healing atmosphere that enhances the Cleveland Clinic treatment experience. You will assist in providing highly specialized treatment for bones, joints, muscles and tendons specifically designed for the unique needs and health backgrounds of your patients. In many cases, these patients are dealing with pain, so remaining sensitive and compassionate is important in helping them regain their health. Ultimately, your efforts can provide the initial drive and support they need to continue forward in their healing journey. A PRN caregiver in this position works M-F| no weekends or holidays| 10:30am—7:00pm or 7:30pm—4:00am. This role provides coverage support and the schedule may adjust based on departmental needs and coverage availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate
  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
  • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and conduct prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
  • Establish, revise and evaluate plans of care while involving the patient and/or their family.
  • Perform therapy interventions.
  • Supervise activities of Physical Therapy Assistants, students and other caregivers.
