About The Position

Under general supervision, delivers physical therapy services through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans in accordance with the evidenced based practice and Maryland scope of practice for outpatient rehabilitation. Acts as a team leader to coordinate rehabilitative services, transitions in care, and resources. Leads performance improvement efforts directly related to patient care, community outreach and support, and education and mentorship of therapist specialists. Acts as a role model for the GBMC mission, vision, and values. This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus! Education Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution; successful completion of continuing education in required area of specialization Experience Seven years of related clinical work experience; some formal or informal program leadership experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency in patient evaluation and management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective leadership and contacts with patients, visitors, other care team members, and support staff Effective planning and organization skills to manage clinical and administrative tasks and priorities Analytical skills necessary to organize and oversee the work of others and to develop and administer sound policies, procedures, and clinical practices Demonstrate effective patient experience and service recovery capabilities Licensures, Certifications Current Maryland license as a Physical Therapist American Physical Therapy (APTA) certification, preferred Manual Therapy Certification, preferred Heart saver (CPR Certification)

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
  • successful completion of continuing education in required area of specialization

Responsibilities

  • Establishes evidence-based plan of care with clear goals for each patient under their care; incorporates multidisciplinary feedback to patient treatment plans; implements therapeutic interventions; teaches patient/family/caregiver activities to reinforce therapeutic interventions; custom fits appropriate assistive/adaptive devices; address concerns and questions of patient/family/care giver.
  • Documents evaluations/re-evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries as determined by CEC, Joint Commission, other certifying agencies, or GBMC policies.
  • Prepare billing documentation utilizing proper ICD and CPT coding reflecting medical necessity of care requirements.
  • Collaborates in the interest of global patient care with other services; communicates with interdisciplinary team members to achieve best outcomes for patients.
  • Provides guidance on treatment planning for patient with complex medical, rehab, and/or social needs.
  • Participates in clinical monitoring at the department level, identifying opportunities for improvement of patient care and outcomes; monitor and supervise the competencies and clinical skills of assigned therapists in the outpatient clinic; provide leadership and coaching to peers and staff, acting as a change agent to implement improvements and evidence-based practices.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate clinical standards, protocols, and policies for the clinic.
  • Assists with chart audits of assigned physical therapists.
  • Participate in the development of patient care programs and/or expansion of services; develop action plans to achieve and maintain safe patient care standards, performance excellence standards, or other measures established be accrediting agencies.
  • Utilize performance improvement tools and best practices to achieve goals.
  • Participate in interview and evaluation of applicants for roles within the clinic; facilitate orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Coordinate continuing education opportunities for staff in the clinic and other GBMC services such as supervision and training of residents, students, other specialties, etc.
