Age Specific Responsibility Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned department. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures. Summary Assumes full responsibility for evaluating patient’s need for physical therapy. Plans and executes individual treatment programs in accordance with the State of Michigan licensure and PT scope of practice. Keeps treatment skills upgraded through continuing education, evidence-based research, and program development. Perform job responsibilities in accordance with the program’s strategic objectives and goals to carry out organizational strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
  • Licensure is required in every US State and Territory the Therapist is practicing. Licensure requirements should be met according to individual State laws.
  • Possesses and maintains BLS certification to meet department/program protocol.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of LSVT training & certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Provides patient care.
  • Demonstrates competence in relevant software and hardware required to meet job responsibilities.
  • Documents patient's status and progress through initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summary according to established internal/external time standards and adherence to reimbursement guidelines.
  • Communicates with others to integrate physical therapy treatment with all aspects of patient care.
  • Attends various meetings and in-services as designated.
  • Follows all hospital policy and procedures including but not limited to patient confidentiality and infection control.
  • Meets or exceeds program productivity expectations.
  • Provides discipline specific coverage (following cross training) within the Mary Free Bed system as requested.
  • Adheres to the Mary Free Bed Standards of Behavior when working with patients, coworkers and members of the community.
  • Supports program operations as assigned.
  • Provides short-term clinical coverage across multiple outpatient locations and/or teams.
  • Supports during staff absences, medical leaves, vacations, or periods of high demand.
  • Requires strong clinical versatility across diagnoses and patient populations.
  • Must be adaptable to varying site workflows and able to integrate quickly into different teams.
  • Includes travel expectations based on organizational needs.
