About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy services to patients, staff and the community to prevent and treat disability following disease, injury or other cause. The PTA provides treatment and collaborates with others to optimize functional recovery and minimize disability.

Requirements

Education: Associate's Degree Associate of Applied Science and successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program
Experience: 0 1 None Clinical experience in a hospital setting
Skills: Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients
Using computers and Microsoft Office programs

Responsibilities

Provides care to optimize functional recovery of patient in collaboration with Physical Therapist
Collaborates with physical therapists and health care team to implement care plan
Provides patient care interventions based on patient acuity and functional status
Follows the plan of care and reports on patient's status and progress towards goals
Participates in planning and operational changes to achieve team and individual performance improvement goals
Observes and documents patient's response to treatment and progress
Assures accurate and efficient documentation of patient progress in patient record
In collaboration with Physical Therapist communicates patient care needs with interdisciplinary health care teams
Facilitates patient education and functional maintenance with patients/ families following the plan of care
Serves as a patient advocate in identifying functional potential and promoting the appropriate utilization of services
