As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you’ll work under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients improve mobility, restore function, relieve pain, and regain independence — all while making a meaningful impact every day. Requirements

  • Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant Program (required)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Physical Therapist Assistant experience required
  • Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing in the State of Michigan
  • BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Current Michigan driver’s license, daily availability of a personal vehicle for business use, and proof of insurance required for Bronson at Home
  • Basic word processing and typing skills to operate a PC/mobile device
  • Must work as a team member and be able to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and all members of the care delivery team
  • Social sensitivity and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Regularly performs work requiring a high level of interpersonal skills to deal with delicate patient care matters
  • Driving Requirement For Bronson at Home positions, driving your own vehicle on a regularly scheduled basis to perform business on behalf of Bronson is required and will require successful completion of an MVR check after offer but prior to start date. Proof of valid auto insurance is required, along with timely submission of renewals and updates if a different vehicle is used.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the plan of care and goals established by the Physical Therapist
  • Family and community education
  • Provision of direct patient care, including performing physical, electrical, mechanical, and heat treatments according to treatment plan
  • Conduct individual and/or group Physical Therapy activities according to treatment plan; facilitates and instructs patients in the skills necessary to successfully participate
  • Interdisciplinary team discussions or hospital rounds involvement
  • Program development
  • Serving as a resource person in areas of expertise
  • Participation in student program and student rotations
  • Providing in-services in areas of expertise for the Bronson Rehabilitation System
  • Documenting in the electronic health record per compliance timelines
  • Communicating limitations that prevent timely documentation
  • Maintaining accurate, legible, and complete records for each person served
  • Serving on committees and task forces
  • Participating in process improvement
  • Demonstrating time management skills
  • Supervision of Rehab Clinical Assistant, PTA students, and volunteers
