About The Position

PRN Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Covering Tri-County Area: Dorchester, Charleston, and Berkeley Counties We’re seeking a dynamic PRN Physical Therapist Assistant who’s ready to hit the ground running. This flexible role spans home health visits, interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings, and in-clinic care—offering a unique blend of autonomy and variety. As part of our team, you’ll deliver personalized, high-quality therapy to patients wherever they are. As a PTA, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do: Implement physical therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a physical therapist. Assist patients with exercises, mobility training, and therapeutic interventions such as heat, cold, or electrical stimulation. Monitor patients’ performance, adjust treatments within scope, and communicate progress or challenges to the supervising physical therapist. Teach patients to use assistive devices and educate them and their families on home exercises, safety, injury prevention, and post-treatment care to empower independence. Document therapy sessions, outcomes, and report changes in patients’ condition or adverse reactions. Maintain therapy equipment, ensure a clean and safe environment, and adhere to safety protocols and infection control procedures. Contribute to treatment plan adjustments, participate in staff meetings, and assist with equipment and supply management. Provide support with patients transfers. Act within the legal scope of practice and uphold ethical and professional care standards. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate of Arts Degree from a Physical Therapy Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation on Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
  • 3 years PTA experience in various settings preferred
  • Experience with geriatric/frail population
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting technical instructions related to patient care plans and procedures.
  • Skilled in observing and assessing patients through both visual and auditory cues.
  • Adaptable and resilient in managing frequent changes in patient needs and care settings.
  • Work effectively with patients, families, staff, and external agencies, including emotionally or physically challenging situations.
  • Deliver participant-centered therapy treatments under supervision, prioritizing care and demonstrating a People First philosophy.
  • Build rapport to motivate participants, ensuring a safe and supportive therapy environment.
  • Mentor students or interns, fostering professional growth aligned company values.
  • Must provide a valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background checks
  • Up to date required immunizations (TDP, MMR, Varicella, flu, and Pneumonia) and physical exam or statement of good health
  • Must meet all applicable health and physical requirements necessary to safely provide patient care
