Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Systems Functional Monitoring: Perform daily monitoring of the University’s physical access control, video surveillance, dining POS, and associated systems for issues or outages, report the outages to management, Dispatch, and other appropriate personnel. Write follow-up reports documenting the cause of an issues or outages and make recommendations for remedial measures if necessary. System Configuration and Installation: Provide system administrator level support for the configuration and installation of the University’s physical access control, door alarms, intrusion detection, video surveillance, and POS hardware, as assigned, coordinating with other University departments (e.g., Facilities, Information Technology) as needed. Write follow-up reports and make recommendations for remedial measures if necessary. Systems Troubleshooting and Repair: Provide system administer level support for the troubleshooting and repair of the University’s physical access control, door alarms, intrusion detection, video surveillance, and POS software and hardware, as assigned, coordinating with other University departments (e.g., Facilities, Information Technology) as needed. Write follow-up reports and make recommendations for remedial measures if necessary. Track progress of associated trouble/incident tickets. Systems Regular Maintenance: Perform regular reporting to appropriate management on access to specific secure areas of campus. Perform regular personnel access reviews and work with management to ensure personnel have appropriate access to facilities. Perform daily and periodic maintenance and support for the software and underlying systems (e.g., database, configurations, etc.) as related to physical access control, video surveillance, and POS systems. Perform and/or ensure regular backups of associated systems are being performed and are complete. Coordinate completion of system access requests from initial request to access granting via the University’s ticketing system. Third-Party Support: Work with system vendors and service providers to troubleshoot issues. Advise contractors and vendors regarding system software installation requirements. Prepare reports for management on work in progress and final acceptance of installations on a project constructed by a contractor and other maintenance reports. Notify project manager and/or management when situations arise involving failure to follow plans and/or specifications. Continuous Improvement: With limited supervision, proactively identify gaps in current systems documentation (e.g., current implementation details, deployed and spare asset inventories, version/patch levels for applicable systems and subsystems, etc.), processes (e.g., operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, etc.), and technology; communicate those gaps; and remediate identified gaps in documentation and processes. For gaps in technology, ensure they are fully documented via a formal report, determine potential for compensating controls, and work with management to develop budget requests for remediation. Ensure application and device security by adhering to University and departmental security standards and vendor best practices. Provide training to applicable IT teams to ensure support redundancy. Responds after-hours as necessary. Other duties as assigned.
