About The Position

The NMAMA Physical Education (PE) Teacher promotes lifelong fitness, health, and well-being by delivering a comprehensive physical education program to middle and high school students. This role fosters skill development, teamwork, and personal responsibility through a variety of sports, activities, and health-related instruction aligned with state and national standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field
  • Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education (K–12 or secondary level)
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (required or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience teaching adolescents in a school or youth program setting
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Commitment to promoting physical activity, inclusivity, and positive youth development

  • Master’s preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons that build physical skills, fitness, and healthy habits
  • Teach a variety of activities, including team sports, individual fitness, dance, and cooperative games
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse abilities and needs, including students with IEPs or 504 plans
  • Promote safety, respect, and positive sportsmanship in all class activities
  • Assess and track student performance in physical fitness, participation, and skill development
  • Maintain and organize gym equipment and ensure a safe physical environment
  • Collaborate with staff to support school-wide wellness initiatives and events
  • Communicate regularly with students and families about class expectations and progress
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as required
  • Attend a minimum of 3 out of school functions, one of which must be graduation
  • May include teaching Health Education
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Principal
