About The Position

The Photographer/Editor is responsible for shooting high-quality video for daily news coverage, special reports, and breaking news. This role involves operating cameras, lighting, and audio equipment in both studio and field environments. The individual will collaborate with reporters and producers to visually enhance storytelling and edit news packages, VOs, and VOSOTs using Adobe Premiere Pro and other Adobe Creative Suite tools. Ensuring all video content meets broadcast standards and is delivered on deadline is crucial, as is exporting and delivering final cuts for air and digital publication. The position requires close collaboration with editorial teams, participation in planning meetings, and contributing ideas for visual storytelling. Additional duties include maintaining organized video archives, managing footage, troubleshooting equipment and software, and staying current with industry trends. The role also involves working assigned and potentially changing shifts, filling in for absent co-workers, and being available for additional hours or alternate schedules, especially for breaking news. Driving a company vehicle to and from stories under various conditions, adhering to traffic laws, reporting vehicle issues, and maintaining the vehicle and equipment are also key aspects of the job.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in videography or video editing, preferably in a news environment.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Strong understanding of visual composition, lighting, and audio capture.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news scenarios.
  • Experience with live broadcasting and field production.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and video optimization strategies.
  • Knowledge of motion graphics and animation tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • Ability to work alone and with a Reporter.
  • Must be reliable and able work additional hours if needed as well as travel as required.
  • Must possess valid driver`s license and clean driving record as determined by the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with reporters, producers, and assignment editors to execute editorial vision.
  • Participate in planning meetings and contribute ideas for visual storytelling.
  • Maintain organized video archives and manage footage for future use.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and software issues as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to improve production quality.
  • Work assigned shifts; shifts may change often.
  • Fill in for absent co-workers if needed.
  • Work other hours or alternate schedules including when called to cover breaking news, as assigned by the Chief Photographer or News Director.
  • Drive company vehicle to and from stories under various driving conditions.
  • Obey all traffic laws and safety rules of the road while in a company vehicle.
  • Report any problems or concerns with the vehicle and traffic incidents promptly to appropriate company representative.
  • Follow take home car guidelines which included securing equipment and vehicle if assigned to take a news vehicle home.
  • Keep car clean and in good condition.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working condition.
