About The Position

Maxmed Healthcare is seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician to help provide services to the Department of Soldier Care, Moncrief Army Health Clinic at Fort Jackson, SC. In this position our Certified Phlebotomy Technician will: Collect blood samples from patients Practice proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors Label vials with patient names and dates Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient Transport all specimen samples to a nearby laboratory Centrifuge blood samples, depending on if this is allowed in the state you are working in Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment Enters, manipulates, and/or retrieves information and data from automated systems, such as, Genesis and MEDPROS (training provided for site programs) Hours of Work: Normal hours will be established by the work center and will generally be an 8-hour day scheduled between the hours of 0300 to 1630 (typically 0730-1630) Monday through Friday including federal holidays with a one-hour unpaid lunch period. All staff will be required to complete a sign in sheet.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an academic course of phlebotomy that includes 120 didactic hours (or required by state law)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT
  • Completed 1040 hours as a Phlebotomy Technician within past 3 years.
  • Must have performed 50 successful venipuncture and 10 successful skin punctures.

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples from patients
